The chapter title Happiness House (page 90) really considered me. The fact that this prison that these girls are kept in is supposed to be happy. Its like they are trying to trick the girls into thinking that the lifestyle that they are living is better than outside the walls of the house. From the point of view of Lakshmi looking out her window it does seem better inside at first because people are starving and cold and at least in the Happiness House the girls have food and are safe but the people outside don't have to live with the trauma of being a sex slave. Its sick how Lakshmi is being whipped into shape like by getting starved and beaten everyday until her body has welts all over it and she still doesn't get out of being taken advantage of.
